Rainbow Cottages Wales are situated just 10 miles away from Abergorlech and Brechfa Forest Mountain Biking Trails. Putting you in the ideal position to enjoy the thrills of nationally renowned mountain biking. We have jet wash facilities so that you can clean your bike after a day out on the track and of course, the Hot Tub to "jet massage" those hard-worked muscles after your ride. Other trails close to us include the 7km Cwm Rhaeadr Trails near Llandovery.

For non cycling partners, guests staying at Rainbow Cottages in Carmarthenshire are invited to use the facilities of our local Health and Fitness Club - The Four Seasons at Nantgaredig at discounted rates . With Swimming Pool, Steam Room and Jacuzzi, the Four Seasons is located on route to Brechfa and is the perfect place to relax, exercise and chill-out whilst the bikers are pedalling to extremes on one of four of Brechfa's Forest Trails.

Brechfa Mountain Biking Trails

The Derwen Trail - named after the Oak woodland it effortlessly runs through, is a green and blue rated run of 9.2km with an additional 4.7Km on the Blue run. Take it as fast or slow as your skills and fitness allow, the Derwen trail is perfect for novice or inexperienced off-road riders. With steady hills to climb, and engaging downhill runs which are fun and exciting. The trail truly envigorates and heightens senses giving a true taste of off-road riding. Weaving through the forest you will encounter spectacular scenery and flowing terrain. Picnic benches strategically placed along the route offering the chance to take a breath and enjoy a breathtaking view. The Blue run is slightly longer and climbs a steeper bank before taking in a longer, faster descent that will have you pumping and whooping all the way to the valley base.

The Raven Trail - A Black Graded track, designed by accomplished rider and trail designer - Rowan Sorrell and Brian Rumble, raises Brechfa's mountain biking to the next level. Suitable only for proficient riders, the trail effortlessly mixes up the more traditional narrow woodland single tracks with Brechfa's characteristic brash descents; fast and undulating sinuously into berms and over jumps. The Raven trail adventures into interesting corners of the forest and creates a ride that involves the forest's unique environment, from spooky moss overhangs to the magnificent Douglas fir Northshore Bridge. By the end of the trail, you will have had your full artillery of trail skills tested and will more than likely be seeking your way back to the start.

The Gorlech Trail - named after the River Gorlech, is a red graded track and suitable for intermediate riders. The Gorlech trail delivers spectacular views, scenery, technically demanding and exciting terrain. Designed by Rowan Sorrell, the Gorlech trail takes design and construction to new levels. The trail is a hard and fast, all weather surface, which becomes more exciting as your skill level and speed progresses. With perfectly sculpted berms and huge switchbacks, step up jumps and tabletops. The final descent is fast and exhilarating and will surley leave you with the need for a repeat ride (give a week or two).
